Recently, BC and Seattle have felt an earthquake.  The centre of the earthquake was right North of Victoria, roughly 19.5 km below the earth’s surface.  The magnitude of the earthquake was originally 4.9 in Victoria.  Vancouver felt a magnitude of 4.3.  The magnitude of this earthquake was not enough to cause major damage, there is only a slight chance of minor damage at this magnitude.

We think that this was a practice, people have realized how necessary it is to prepare and have earthquake preparedness kits at home with much needed supplies ready for a disaster that may come our way in days, months or even years.  The kids in our class now know that earthquake drills are not for nothing and having these drills fully prepares us for the big one.
